Help with a RS-T....poor idle!!

Post by cris_barros »

Hi guys!!

My friend owns a MX-3 RS-T ... he is using a T25 and running 1Kg of boost (around 14psi..stock engine :D ), but the idle sucks!! The cars goes to 1200rpm and sometimes die (he's running with alcohol)..

Any advice?? It's seems to be a problem with the MAF...Is there anyway to fix it?

Thanks a lot!!
Cris

Maybe an intake leak? Is the BOV sealed at idle or is it sucking in unmetered air?

Try running the ECU codes on it.

i think i need some more info here... are you saying at idle it goes from 1200 to really low constantly or what? did you check/clean the idle air control valve? and why alcohol on a stock motor?

The problem?? MAF (too much pressure..MAF can't support it) :(

ops..just to answer the questions:

Yep..the idle goes to 1200rpm to really low constantly....

Why alcohol?? It's really cheap around here; he'll be running big boost soon (14psi now...28psi in 6 months :froggie_red: ..with forged internals!)...it's a better fuel for FI (low risk of detonation with the stock CR)...

Well...alcohol is a different fuel that needs a higher CR to work well (it's a "cool" fuel)...

The octane level would be around 110 !
