Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
Ok guys,
I was taking to the guy who is going to do my engine swap and he says before he starts that he needs to know how the wiring is done. So.. How is it done? My harness on the bpt is cut right off where it goes into the firewall. So how does the mx-3 harness connect to this.. is it just connected where the other one is cut off wire by wire? or do you just change the plugs on the ends of the mx-3 harness? I really need to know here guys.. He dosent want to start until he knows exactily what is involved with the wiring.
I REALLY need help here guys... anything pictures, diagrams, videos... whatever.. I just need something..
Help me mx-3.com!!!!!

it's one or the other. you can't splice in a different wiring harness.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Re: Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
no. it also depends on the year of the car as to which options you have.

My mx is a 93 sohc with air conditioning.
I know that people are using the stock harness I just want to know how they have it done.
mx3tt did it this way...

Re: Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
this i'm not sure of. most would say to use a protege lx ecu and a piggy-back system. it's "possible" that you can use the gtx ecu and wire in the knock-sensor.

Re: Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
Will the protege ecu just plug right in to the mx-3... Somehow I dont think that it will.
I am 100% sure that you can use the mx-3 ecu and harness for the bpt... Phil costa is doing it for gods sake. I have to get a hold of him..

Yeah I ran it with the mx-3 harness and ECU. Ran like crap but it was only for a week until I blew up the tranny. I would suggest going stand alone, its the best way to go by far. A little more money yet but its worth it.

I dont have the $$$ for a stand alone.. Jesus, it costs more than the bpt for gods sake! I am just going to use a piggyback system with the mx-3 ecu. How was the mx harness connected to your bpt? I really need details here mx3tt... thanks.

That is a little too hardcore for me. I'm just driving the car everyday I dont need anything insane like that.

Re: Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
from my understanding, the sohc mx-3 can use the pro lx ecu. the mx-3 ecu sucks for anything other than b6 related stuff.

Re: Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
I agree. The harness plugged in basically. I didnt do it the first time so I really dont know what they switched or not.
Re: Anyone with a bpt running off mx-3 harness and ecu
I went the expensive but not too expensive route and installed the bpt ecu and wiring harness and vaf. all bought from barelylegaltransplant.com, i think that is the site. it works, well. but huge pain in *** to match up all the wires. i am charting it all now so should i ever have to do this again it will be much less painful. i started with a 94 dohc so it's somewhat different. If you want my wiring descriptions, let me know mx-3@levinsonltd.com

I would love the maps of the bpt wiring can you e-mail them to me chaos@caribsurf.com
Also can N E one give me the name and contact number of a good but REASONABLE shop in the miami area that has had experience with engine swaps.
