I think it is definitely possible if you relocate the battery to the rear. Otherwise the hood and the intercooler would hit. Because that intercooler is pretty thick.

Re: Offcenter hood scoop to intercooler L@@K
u and ur damn ideas!!!. looks nice man, i would move the battery to the rear also just to be safe and make it easier for ya. also you wouldnt pressurize the crankcase would ya??? cant run the vent to the charge pipe cause it will run that amount of boost added to the crankcase pressures you already have. eventually blowing out seals and causing leaks. not to mention improper ring sealing. but other than that looks like an easy to do project and its nicely laid out.

Stock Mitsu IC's are proven to LOSE hp on some applications over a straight pipe. They suck.

Re: Offcenter hood scoop to intercooler L@@K
i had that same idea a while back and was actually thinking of doing it, but im a big showoff and want to showoff my IC.. its worth a try thats how most wrx came out of the factory.
just make sure that the air gets to the IC so mount your scoop wisely and carefully. otherwise the purpose is being defeated.

You did ask for opinions, and I don't think it would be nice to keep opinions to myself when asked for them. Personally I like the idea. But, I don't like the way it looks in the picture. It just takes the sense of symetry away from the car. I think it takes away from the clean look of the car.
I just wanted to make some suggestions. I know the pictures are terrible but you'll get the idea.
here is a pic I was thinkin a long time ago (I think Vaughn has this on his car)
Basically they are louvre designs that would be directly above the I/C directing air down.
Then, there is the good old Fast and the Furious style

Re: Offcenter hood scoop to intercooler L@@K
what about like barry's hood? or those inverted scoops what are the aerodynamic properties on those... don't then vacuum air in depending on the design?

Re: Offcenter hood scoop to intercooler L@@K
Has anyone else heard of eclipse IC being just absolute junk? I'd seem like why would mitsubishi put them on if they did no good! You'd think they'd get rid of some of the extra heat, and there might be pressure drop, but I think i'd do more good then w/out it. Anyone else have an opinion on them? But yeah, the PCV would NOT be hooked up. I didn't photoshop that little part in. But yeah, I know you don't wanna be shoving 8 psi into the crankcase. Tell me what you think! Thanx guys

Re: Offcenter hood scoop to intercooler L@@K
yea i think that's a good idea too. but you might want to go with a hood that looks more like this then.

or you could go with a hood like these and try to mount the intercooler on top of the intake manifold like they do on the WRX...if there was enough room of course.

of course it would also be alot harder to make your hood like those. and for the record the cars in the pics are ford escorts. the hoods are available from spydarauto.com

Re: Offcenter hood scoop to intercooler L@@K
ehhh... no thanx I don't like that HUGE ONE!!! EWE in my opinion. But... i thought about mounting it in the center, there's just no room! There's only like 1 inch of clearence there So, that's not really an option. I like the vent ideas though. Peace out guys.
