Who doesn't shift at 7,000 RPM? My great-grandmother would shift at 7,000 RPM if her car revved that high.Originally posted by bmwm3guy:

Re: klze
ya, i never rev my ZE past 6500 b/c it makes ZERO POWER past there... I have revved it to 7500 once, but I didn't want to blow the head gasket or bend a valve.

Re: klze
I'll go to 7k in 1st. The jump from 1st to 2nd is a little wide. If you don't rev it that high in first when you shift it drops out of the range it makes power.

Re: klze
Yep, sometimes it's not how high you rev to get power, its how high you rev to make sure you stay within the power band...

Re: klze
To answer your question it is perfectly normal to puff alittle smoke when shifting at 7000. Especially for a motor that has some miles on it. However the more you shift that high the worse it will get. Wear and tear ya know.

Re: klze
crank sensor is right beside the crank pulley and the knock sensor is between both heads under the manifold
