gear oil

Post by nope-mx3 »

hey, I`m probably gonna change my gearoil to Redline MT90. How much oil is needed?
Also, Redline water wetter, is that any good for our engines? the V6 get`s pretty hot, so better cooling would be nice I think.

Water wetter would help in winter to. Water wetter doesnt make you car run cooler. It makes heat transfer more readily from the metal into the water. The thermostat will control the overall engine heat. So in cold weather the engine heat would get into the water quicker. How much quicker??? probably not enough to notice. No worries about running it in winter.

Your car shouldn't be runing hot either. Don't cover a problem with a band aid. Find out why its doing it. It's got to be one of a few things-
1. Thermostat
2. Clogged radiator
3. water pump- they're known to have the impellers disintegrate
4. Leaves etc blocking the flow of air to the radiator

I`m actually replacing my waterpump next wednesday, as it leeks badly.
I don`t even dare to drive until then, as it`s not worth risking the enginge :)

They are doing a 4-wheel alignment at the same time, so it should be good as gold when I get it back :)
