2.5 KL Engine SWAP

Post by Machelski65 »

Few questions my 2.5 has the intake manifold that the tubing to the air intake go straight and on the mx-3 would hit the battery. So my question is, Is it ok performance wise to use my intake manifold off my 1.8? I would of course use the 2.5 injectors? Also should I get the MAF and ECU from the MX-6 I got the 2.5 out of and run it on them? Thanks in advance for the help... A.J.

I'm contemplating the same job, so I've done the research, posted some questions and got answers (thanks all).<p>You can use an IM from a US 2.5L Millenia; the neck is curved.<p>I think you mean VAF (not MAF) and ECU from the MX-6. As long as the MX-6 is pre 96 (i.e. OBD1)that will work. If its 96-on (OBDII), get an OBD1 ECU.<p>Good advice on http://www.geocities.com/motorcity/downs/8175/swap.htm , but use the MX-3 exhaust manifold, and you don't need to cut & weld the exhaust downpipe; see as it says on http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/8175/myswap.htm<p>Good luck!<p>[ February 24, 2003: Message edited by: IanL ]</p>
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

or.. save yourself some head aches.. and some power, and get a smaller battery, you must be running a tractor battery cause i never have any problems w/ the 03 manifold..

I don't know if its gonna hit or not. My batteries normal size. You just used the 2.5 intake and had no problems? I've just read that everyone does use the bent tubed intake.

Looking again at http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/8175/myswap.htm it seems the KLD manifold out of the 626 is OK; it must be shorter than the straight manifold on KLZEs which people replace with the Millenia IM.<p>[ February 24, 2003: Message edited by: IanL ]</p>
