...that's a pretty messy engine bay, wires 'n crap everywhere! isn't that a Duratec?

No it will not. NO more so than a merc cougar or anything else that has the duratec engine.

Does Mazda even design their own engines anymore. I hear about them using duratec engines a lot now-a-days. I think the only thing they put money into designing now are their rotaries and BP Miata engines (am I wrong on the Miata engine?).

I'm not sure why you guys get Duratecs in your Mazda6's, maybe its a LHD or emissions thing, but Mazda has built some new engines for the 6 that will probably end up being Ford badged too, the 2.3 litre 4 puts out almost the same hp as the KL-ZE, call it progress!
