1.8 to 2.5 AUTO,possible?
I have a 92 GS AUTO and was wondering whether it would be possible to do a 2.5 swap.

Re: 1.8 to 2.5 AUTO,possible?
before the bashing begins.....

yes you can do it, all 2.5's were designed for the same auto tranny. Should you do it is a different question. First thing you need to do is get a tranny cooler, secondly you need to check that your existing tranny will hold up if you dont plan to beef it up. Despite what the manuals say.... the mazda tranny is a hell of alot better than most auto trannies of it time. However, if you've had your existing one for more than 3 years i'd say you need to upgrade.

Re: 1.8 to 2.5 AUTO,possible?
I as well have an auto, but my tranny only has 25000kms on it. I plan on doing my swap in a couple months, but not until I have my 2.5 ported/polished and the cylinders bored out with bigger pistons. It is possible, probably easier than doing the swap into a manual?
I've also asked a number of mechanics if the tranny will withhold the increased hp( plus the extra hp from the machine work) and they said it shouldn't be a problem. Then again it wouldn't hurt to beef up the tranny, I've already got a B&M tranny cooler installed.
