V6 stuttering, stumbling, coughing after warm-up.
Re: V6 stuttering, stumbling, coughing after warm-up.
Basically I had the same problem occuring with my MX-3. Bought the car, drove 6 hours home and all great then next morning got my hands on the engine to change spark plugs, found a couple of the spark plug holes filled to near the top with oil, cleaned them out and replaced the spark plugs, then the problem started The car would start and run fine until it got nice and warm, then idled badly and felt like misfiring here and there but basically drove fine on the highway at 70mph 4000rpm. I fixed the problem by changing the ignition wires as the old ones were bad and arcing. Check that you don't have oil sitting in the spark plug holes as this accelerates the death of ignition wires. If you do, clean out the oil monthly so as not to damage your new wires until you have time to change the valve cover gaskets.<P>Hope this helps you.

if oil is in the spark plug holes then my guess is the you need a new valve cover gasket
