You wannnttt..
SOYO SY-KT600
DRAGON Plus Motherboard-----
-------------------------------$130.00+
Athlon XP 2500+ Processor---

2700 DDR Ram -- > 512 meg of it

If you want a new vid card, get:
NVidia Geforce FX 5600 ultra
or if you have the money
Geforce FX 5700 ultra

The latter is a LOT faster
If you have 300 dollars to blow on the vid card, LOL: Geforce FX 5950 (I have the 5700 and it is amazing)

The motherboard I told you to get has 5.1 surround sound built in, and a networking card built in...

what other processors will work great with that Soyo motherboard, besides that Athlon XP processor, I usually like Intel with their hyper threading technology and that particular Athlon XP2500 is only 1.8Ghz I would like something faster

Hey Mitmaks.
Well, if you ask me, intel is crap.. AMD is more stable, faster and easier to mess with.
The number 2500+ meens it runs as well as a 2.5 Ghz CPU. The actual Ghz rating isn't all that counts.
I belive you can fit the best athlon XP's out there on this board though.
If you want an Intel, you need a different motherboard.

you've gotta consider so many things.. the cache size on the cpu? FSB? cpu speed... are ya gonna OC? running high temps? Cooling?
and than ya gotta get into the MoBo part..
Dual ram setup, and is it compatable with eachother?..? it all makes a BIG difference!
PS wattage? (i'd go 400+)

I'm running on my spare comp: AMD athlon xp 2800 @ 2.225 ghz with 180 fsb and 12.5 multiplier.

as for buying used.. its not like a car :)

EDIT: i'd go for the amd 64bit..and a gig of ram if ya want speed! its just snappier and it won't be outdated for quite sometime.

hit me up on an IM anytime if ya got any more Q's...

Junkie-Wino-Creep, I agree completely.
Like your comp too.
As for the A64, he said he didn't wanna spend that much... A shame really, a64's are beautiful.

lets just say i have had bad experiences with buying used, i much rather buy new parts for the PC, i find the car much easier to deal with in a used situation

Athlon XP-M 2400+ @ 2.5 GHz (12.5x200) @ 1.85V here, XP-Ms are the WIN in a desktop with some serious cooling,
SP-97 with Vantec Tornado 92mm
Epox 8RDA3+
512MB of PC2700 @ 3200 dual channel mode
Radeon 9000 from 250/200 to 330/240
Voodoo 3 2000 flash to 3000 for second display
Antec Truepower 430watt PSU

i need some new RAM and a new vid card oneday
