From what I have read here.. swapping from a 4cyl to the V6 is expensive and a lot of work. If you are really after a V6 car.. you would probably be better off waiting.. Having said that.. that car looks nice and if its in as good of condition as it appears.. maybe pick it up and slap a turbo unit o...

Well there are a couple of things that come to mind.. but probably the most likely is that the synchros are shot in the trans.. rebuild or replace.. however.. I am new to MX-3's as well and though that is a typical manual trans issue with higher mileage units.. there may be some other more obscure r...

They should be the same casting between the 92 & 93 however.. you may want to yank your sensors from your head or buy new ones just in case there were other changes. While you have the head off.. check for valve damage on the exaust valves.. would be a prudent move to replace the exaust valves a...

If your buying used.. do a compression check BEFORE you buy it. You might even want to yank the valve cover if the seller will let you and look for excessive cam wear. I would also look at the distributor and check for play in the shaft. Trust me.. I sure wish I had been this thorough when I bought ...

I had a similar issue with the clutch in my Subaru XT.. Yeah I know the car is an embarassment  In my case the clutch was ok.. but the clutch cover had cracked (the housing thing with the little finger spline things) The clutch would engage and slip slightly when shifting.. would stay engaged ...

I just got her back today.. needs a bit of fine tuning.. (the shop wasnt asked to do the tune up or timing.. etc.. ) But the idle is smooth now and she doesnt seem to be so gutless between 50-60 mph when getting on the freeway. Definately a vast improvement. I also noticed that the trans seems to be...

Well Sweetness is back on the road.. shop didnt time her very well and I will have to adjust that and the idle.. but the power is good and the idle is smooth. I did check on the VICS solenoid placement. I was able to eliminate the brown solenoid. From looking in the manual (pg F1-110) at the placeme...

Have you tried doing the compression test since replacing the Head Gasket? Honestly.. I would suspect the head before I would suspect the block. The head is made of aluminum and is easily damaged by overheating. The block is cast iron and more sturdy.. you would have to have gotten it extremely hot ...

Heck if its in that good of shape dont send it to the junk yard.. post it for sale or something here. Too bad you have the SOHC engine though.. I have a spare DOHC head thats in good flat condition. You should even be able to find a crate motor for the car for under $500 easy worst case scenario. Wh...

Well we finished measuring the spring deck height on all cylinders of the junk yard head and found less than a .006 varience across the board. So apparently I just got lucky with my head being the one that was off. What is kinda weird about this whole thing is the spring tension specs.. the manual s...

Well as of this monday evening.. we finished the valve job on my head. New exaust valves and we reground the intakes (replaced 2 as they were slightly bent somehow) valve grind.. new seals.. new springs.. etc.. we did find one more oddity about the #3 cylinder.. When doing a valve height check using...

One additional thought.. if you ever plan to run NOS.. with a high compression ratio.. you will blow that engine apart very quickly.. Heh.. guess this makes it my 4 cents now eh? ;)
