Re: it wont fire after a k8 to kl swap

Well did your K8 disty work on the K8 before the sawp? I would stray far away from doing an HEI mod, as it will just add to the headaches of finding the problem with your car now. If you wanna do the HEI mod wait til you get your car running.

Re: picture request - KL31 throttle body TPS

Maybe you should read the write up on Probetalk.com, Its was like 10-15 pages of people setting it up via the Manual, and there was more power to be made and all around peppiness going off the voltage. And optimum voltage was between .7v-.8v Always ran my MX-6 and MX-3 with these settings, maybe thi...

Re: difference in klze curve neck vs. straight neck.

So there is actually a 200HP (149KW) curved neck motor and a 170HP (125KW) curve neck motor too, which are not to be confused with a DE at all, which I would refer to as a 164HP (121KW) short neck motor. I had it in my head that the Millenia + Eunos 800 had about 170HP regardless if they were from ...

Re: difference in klze curve neck vs. straight neck.

Here's an engine bay pic. They look just like "curved neck ZE". How would you tell this apart from a 200HP curved neck? They look identical. Head codes are probably the same too. Would the cams be KL31? I guess if it was a ZE version it would have a 7 nipple disty and no EGR etc. Here's a...

Re: picture request - KL31 throttle body TPS

I always adjust mine to ~.75 volts. I forgot which wire is the one you wanna put a meter on but as you twist it side to side. MAX one way is 1 Volt and MAX opposite way is .0(something). just test it out.

Re: difference in klze curve neck vs. straight neck.

I got a question for everyone. I own a straight neck. I am surprised that the curved neck engines make just as much power as a straight neck according to http://www.geocities.com/viv95pgt/klze.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I thought the whole point into getting the s...

Re: difference in klze curve neck vs. straight neck.

A shop tested both Straight neck and Curve neck ZE manifolds on a flow bench. The Curve neck flowed like 10 CFM more than the Straight neck. The Curve neck shows the most power increase over the straight neck through low-mid RPM range. I had a KL-31 cammed KLZE, with Curve neck manifold, Stock MX-3 ...

Re: difference in klze curve neck vs. straight neck.

You should do a hybrid...It will net you the most power. I am having this same arguement over on Probetalk.com with them. Get a KLZE Straight Neck and swap over the Curve Neck manifold, it give you the lower end grunt and the Curve neck actually flows slightly more CFM than the straight neck up top....

Re: Exhaust

The SS Autochrome headers are quality. I've used them, as well as installed many on swaps for customers. They line up very well and look excellent. Never had a weld crack or anything.

Re: Exhaust

As far as exhaust, if you have a KLDE or KLZE you are going to want to run a 2.5" exhaust setup, if your sticking with the K8 then 2.25" is sufficient. really? cause the dyno database on probetalk basically says that 2.25" exhaust on a NA KL has greater torque readings then the 2.5&q...

Just plug it...I noticed on some Curve neck ZE's they have the extra coolant line. Maybe OBD2 overseas or something requiring a cooler on the cars there.

Re: Vris Points KLZE Curved Neck

My ZE was making peak power at 6800 RPM...and you don't wanna shift at your peak power.

I had a KL-31 cammed KLZE with a curve neck ZE manifold, Stock Airbox, Headers and Exhaust. I was running a KL-36 ECU.

Re: Exhaust

Headers are not a waste of money, Do they make as much HP increase as say a nice set of DC headers on a Honda, Probably not, but still make a nice improvement on the KL motors. Anything to free up exhaust flow is better than the stock logs, where 3 cylinders have a ~1.5" hole to breathe from. ...
