i would trust the lower side. you could just be rubbing the dipstick on the side of the tubing thus getting an inaccurate reading. try turning the dipstick when you insert it and see if that helps. but who knows maybe there is some sort of forcefield holding the oil up on one side of the oil pan. :s...
