Why buy new?
I have a used one in working condition I'll part with cheaper. PM me. Replacing a MAF is as simple as disconnecting the battery, disconnecting a single electrical connector, and loosing the screw attaching the MAF to the intake tube. Though the MAF is a sensor there is nothing to calibrate -- it's s...

How many types of center consoles were there?
My 1994rs (US spec) had a 2-tier console stack added as an option. The top stack flips open to reveal a small storage area, and the bottom flips open to create 2 cupholders for back seat passengers and the option of either a deep storage area, or another 2 cupholders by laying a thin plastic insert ...

Try www.wires4Cars.com
They can custom make you wires in many different choices of colors and sizes. I got an 8mm carbon-fiber set, and they're very high quality. I'll soon be buying another set for my 300ZX. They'll probably cost you about $50 all together, but that's not too different from the price you'll pay for any d...

Well, the MX-3 is back on the road.
Many thanks to all of you for sharing your advice and experiences above. I'm sure those of you who've been following this thread are interested in knowing what was causing that bizarre persistent hesitation phenomenon. The answer: a distributor with a faulty secondary coil. Now, why didn't I discove...

It's February and I'm still having this problem.
Well, since I first began the quest to fix this problem, I've done quite a bit more diagnostics & repairs. Here is an updated list of what I've done to date: New distributor, wires, plugs, cap & rotor. New coolant temperature sensor. New (used) MAF Sensor. (made no difference) New IAC valve....

WTB misc 94+ 4-cyl parts
Hello all: I am looking for the following parts (all for a 94-95 RS with the DOHC B6 engine), in good working order: 1) TPS. (Part # JE50-18-911) 2) MAF Sensor. 3) Distributor. I'd like to get all three for somewhere around $100 shipped, but of course that's negotiable. Please email me at contestant...

Bad IAC produce engine stumble at WOT?
Brought the 94 RS into the dealer today hoping they could better diagnose what has become a time consuming thing to troubleshoot. The car has been down for a few months with the following symptom: Giving the engine hardly any air causes a severe miss/stumble/hesitation off idle. WOT from any engine ...

Severe hesitation/stumble problem on full throttle!
Hi guys/ladies: I'm trying to diagnose a problem I'm experiencing that *seems* to have worsened over time. My MX-3, at very slight throttle, will accelerate slowly but smoothly all the way to redline without problems... But at anything over 1/4 throttle the engine will stumble badly at about 2000-25...

I just paid a visit to Summit and I like the prices I'm seeing over the OEM one at www.cheapexhaust.com.
What part # do I want for my 94 RS... and just for curiosity's sake, what is the width of the stock 4-cyl exhaust piping?

Re: Need a new engine!
You should use the search feature for the term "swap" in the 4-cylinder forum. Then read up on posts about B6, BP, BPT, engines. You'll have a much easier time of it swapping any Mazda B-series 4 cylinder engine than any of the K-series V6's. Some 4-cyl swaps are fairly straightforward. As...

Tell me about your stock exhaust (precat)...
I have a stock 94RS originally sold in CA, and as such it has a warm-up (or "pre") cat right after the exhaust manifold which connects to the downpipe. I want to know which other years had the 4-cyl pre-cat, and if they came on Federal-spec MX-3's after 1994, etc. Since I'm in CA, I'm thin...

Re: Distributor Replacement -- Frustrated & Clueless
Well, I fixed it, no thanks to Shop Manual. :dunno: It turns out the distributor sockets are mislabeled indicating which plug wire belongs where in the Shop manual. The distributor only fits into the car *one* way due to the presence of a notch on the gear that connects to the cam. All the fuss abou...

Re: Distributor Replacement -- Frustrated & Clueless
Okay. To complicate matters there is a discrepancy between what is stamped on my new distributor cap and what the Mazda manual is telling me. Where should the rotor really point at TDC? Facing the distributor, the manual says 10:00, the cap cays 2:00. Annoying. Plus my car alarm goes off every time ...
