Re: Tell me about your stock exhaust (precat)...
I remember reading in a different post where someone said the pre-cat is only useful in filtering emissions during warmup. I had some toasted exhaust valves for a while and when i finally fixed them, my pre-cat had a hole melted in it so I just rodded it out and bolted it back on. I have a 96 RS up ...

Re: BP swap gas mileage
I don't know how you went 500km on half a tank going 120. That is not correct. The rating of the 1.6 DOHC is like 39mpg highway and i'm pretty sure that is going at around 90. The MOST I have gotten out of a tank is about 615km and that is going 100-110 and I was pretty much on fumes....

Re: Custom Exhaust / Super Charger
I have a picture of the 1st cat as I had some faulty exhaust valves and well there was a hole melted in it. So I just rodded it out and attached it back on. Exhaust is quite a bit louder now. I don't know how to post the pic as I have no website. Maybe someone can tell me.

What manual do you guys use for repairs? Just one from crappy tire or is that not sufficient?

Re: low compression fix
I have done a compression test on the cylinder and then added oil and no change so it is a valve problem, which is what the dealership told me. Would a regular manual, like one from crappy tire, give me all the needed info to fix this?

Re: low compression fix
What was the problem with your engine? Did you do all the work yourself and did you need any special tools? How much HP you have now? I'd like a big boost.

low compression fix
I have low compression in cylinder 2 (about 80) on my 96 1.6L. I get a rough idle and power is significantly reduced. Is this a tough fix to do at home? Are any special tools needed and does anyone know what kind of manual I would need. I have an unlce who can mechanic but he hasn't worked on mazda'...
