I second that it's most likely your valve seals.

You can either take off the heads to do it, or use compressed air into the spark plug holes so that the valves don't fall into the cylinder when you take off the keepers.

If your car is reving from 1000-1500 there are a few things that could be causing that.

1) Check for leaks in the intake
2) Set idle
3) Set TPS

Keep in mind the ebrake light only comes on when the actually handle is pulled up, not when the cable is pulled. I'd suggest taking off the ebrake center console cover thing (hey that was the best explanation i could come up with) and check it out.
