Re: SRD Extension Rod Bushing Install

Hey Gro,

Your online install instructions were perfect. :D

For whatever reason (anger?), using the mounting bolt/nut to simply squeeze the bushing into the rod never occurred to me. Took some doing, but I got the mother on there.

Thanks so much!

SRD Extension Rod Bushing Install

Hey, to anyone that's installed the SRD extension rod bushing on their car.... Please forgive my whining, but what trick did you use to actually get the thing installed? Removing the existing bushing was somewhat painful, but doable. Trying to get the new one inserted so far has been fruitless. The ...

Re: Struts for H&R springs

I have the H&R springs mated to the ZX2 struts and the combo works quite well in my opinion. The ZX2 struts do indeed seem to be the best deal for the money. I have the stock 15" wheels on my GS and the ride is firm and a little bumpy, but not too bad. I'm going to get 17" wheels in th...

Re: Midwst Mx3s?

Well, that's unfortunate you're not in the area anymore. I'd be more interested in an MX-3 specific club, but anything would be great. Share any information you might have regarding the other Mazda owners, so long as they're ok with it....

Re: Midwst Mx3s?

Hey '78, I'm local to your area....in fact, I work in Warren. I posted a while back inquiring about Detroit area MX-3 clubs, but got little response. It certainly would be great to meet other MX-3 owners who are interested in upgrading and maintaining their cars. I've been doing some of my own mods ...

Re: ZX2 Struts

I got mine for about $20/pair.....probably not the best price, but I really didn't care at the time! :D

Re: Rusted Exhaust - Repair Options?

Hmmm...that would certainly save me a ton of money. If I go to the website though it says explicitly, "Not recommended for use on manifolds, exhaust systems, and other engine components which normally operate at temperatures above 500º F." :( Also, I'm not *positive* where the leak/hole is...

Re: ZX2 Struts

ltj, re: the camber bolts, the ones I bought were SPC Performance (spcperformance.com) EZ Cam XR model #81250. They fit perfectly. I didn't mean to mislead you about modifying the struts...there is the one modification (as Gro Harlem pointed out) necessary for the fronts which involves enlarging the...

Rusted Exhaust - Repair Options?

Hey All, I just got done with my last major issue (worn struts, broken springs - replaced w/ZX2, H&R) so now it looks like perfect timing to tackle my next problem: A rusting exhaust that's starting to get LOUD I live in Michigan which isn't the most gentle environment to a car's underside in wi...

Re: ZX2 Struts

Hey Sam, Having just completed this upgrade myself (adding H&R springs while I was at it), I can tell you that you don't need the ZX2 bearings for the rear because THERE ARE NO BEARINGS for the rear. Why? Because the bearings are only there to aid with steering...obviously the rear wheels are fi...

Alternative to Suspension Techniques Springs

Howdy,
I have purchased the Tokico ZX2 struts and the corresponding front bearings, and was looking to buy some Suspension Techniques springs to round out an upgrade. Unfortunately, it looks like there's some ridiculous delay from the manufacturer (Susp. Tech.) in supplying the MX-3 springs. Due t...

Re: Engine Flush Myths + Transmission Oil

Just wanted to follow up on this. Since no one dissuaded me from the Bilstein R2000 route I went and had the machine flush done at Uncle Ed's for $80.
All I can say is that this procedure has made a TREMENDOUS difference in my engine. Honestly, it's as close to feeling 'new' as I can remember. Eve...

Smacked Underside - Broken Exhaust Piece

Hey Everyone,
I've got a '93 GS I've been upgrading lately. Unfortunately, I was forced to drive over some *very* uneven/broken blacktop today. As I was driving over (slowly, about 5MPH) I was greeted with an unpleasant *THUNK* from the underside of the car. Much to my chagrin, upon inspection of ...

Re: Engine Flush Myths + Transmission Oil

Hey All,
I appreciate all the input and replies on the engine-flush subject. Sounds like I have nothing to worry about, provided I do the flush myself, or ensure that I have someone who knows what they're doing perform the flush.
I have one last question, as I guess I'm simply try to save myself...

Engine Flush Myths + Transmission Oil

Hey All,
I've been a lurker around the board for a while as I've been getting my '93 GS (K8, 113k miles) into better working order. I wanted to first off thank everyone who contributes to this forum as it's been immensely helpful! Thus far I've added PowerStop brake rotors as well as a PRM air int...
