It sounds like your stuck in between a rock and a hard place.
My only suggestion is taking the fender off to get to the hinges and removing the entire door.
Have you taken the trim around the inside handle off. Perhaps you can get a hold of the locking bar that way.
Good luck

Re: Engine wanted
I don't blame you. Shipping would be a pain but thanks for the offer.
As for the j-spec, too much money right now.

Re: Engine wanted
That does sound tempting.
However, I am more interested in the hands on learning.
With the number of people doing swaps in the RS, I thought someone would have a SOHC laying around.
Thanks anyway

As for the axels, it is normal to have a little play. How much are you talking, it should not be more that a couple centimeters, I think?

Re: What would you like to see from this site?
I was thinking of a forum that covered more than just "what part would fit my car". I envisioned a place that you could go to read or see a step by step process of how to replace or repair a part. For example, I am in the process of replacing the outer cv boots on my car. Through trial and...

I purchase a windshield decal from the online store. I was a very easy transaction and I received my decal in a short time. I thought it was great that there was no extra shipping charges, just a flat rate.

Re: What would you like to see from this site?
I would like to see a "Do It Yourself" forum.
I do all my own work because I cannot afford to take my car to the mechanic.
It would be helpful to get first hand advice to go along with the online manual.

cv boots
For anyone who has replaced their cv boots (outer).
After looking in the manual (m-027), Is it as easy as it looks. Just pry the axle out of the transaxle, separate the axle, hammer the rest out of the wheel hub???
I want to complete the project this weekend.
Thanks,
James
