I'm theoretically there...tracks don't open back up for atleast another month or two around here. You guys that have tracks year round...I ENVY you!!!! At 22psi and a stop light take off (didn't even try to launch) I trapped 130mph with street tires, open diff, a very conservative timing map, and my...

Ummm...ignition timing DOES change the VE of an engine. If you retard the timing you'll have a loss in power due to the energy of the full cumbustion partially exiting the exhaust port giving only partial energy transfer to the power stroke. This will have less push on the power stroke causing the o...

Ummm....timing GREATLY effects the afr's. If your increasing timing on a suboptimal timing map the afrs will lean and knock...this is why I said add fuel. Once the timing map reaches the fuel/engine knock limits then yes it won't do any good to add more fuel, which is why I said to back the timing o...

Pump gas is fine...I've pushed 93oct. to 30psi...just watch the EGT's and the AFR's. At full boost you want to start with the timing around 10* and slowly work it up while adding fuel to keep the AFR's and EGT's in there proper places. You do this until you get slight detination in 4th or 5th gear t...

You can use a machinest scale (steel ruler that is nearly PERFECTLY flat...they are expensive) to check the flatness of the head. The advantage of haveing it surfaced it two fold. Not only do you have a fresh perfectly flat surface but you also slightly raise the compresson in each cylinder. I also ...

What is your power goal and what are you using the car for? I prefer the GT-R ballbearing turbos and am closely looking at the new Borg Warner extended tip turbos. I'm using the Garrett GT3076R w/ .82 A/R exhaust housing on a 1.6L B6T. The GTX rods are good up to around 400HP for quite a long time. ...

Well....you could do two things. Pay a couple hundred dollars for the specialty tool you have to get from mazda or do what I did. I went to the hardware store (Walmart has these also) and purchased a shower knob bolt remover (looks like a big hollow hex tube with two different size ends). Use a drem...

Track racing as in auto-x or road racing? My car has so much torque snap it'd probably rip me right off the track though. I've got on it a little in corners on the street and it litterally rips you into the other lane on spool up even with the LSD....with practice I may could road race it but I'd ne...

Check your coolant for traces of oil and see if your oil looks like chocolate milk. If so its the head gasket. The other item that can leak oil on your timing belt are the camshaft seals. Try putting a tea spoon or two of oil in the cyl and retest the compression. If it rises then it is probably the...

The only upside to the GTR engine is it has the beefiest stock rods capible of handling upto around 500HP along with a higher flowing intake manifold and hollow cam shafts. For the price differance you could build a regular BP to kick the crap out of it. My old 1.6l B6T with the little Capri rods to...
