3M came out with some new process just a little bit ago, it might be part of their duramix line, You'll have to ask at an autobody supply shop, but basically, they have a patch and some heat activated glue that goes on the back, then a filler for the front which I think was also heat activated. that...

You dont have to strip the paint, if its just got the original layer of paint on it. Just scuff the surface, I'd use a DA with 600 grit paper. Dont know if they sell this in spray cans, but for extra protection you could spray a layer of flat clear coat over the black.

I've removed a number of bumpers, my MX3 included. It's one of the tougher ones. Interesting though is that the only other cars I've worked on with similarly difficult bumper covers were a Lexus, a Cadillac, and a number of annoying Oldsmobiles. All were considered high end cars though. I'd say its ...

Since you have two paint jobs on there already you need to consider how nice a paint job do you want and if you want it to last a long time. Adding more primer, basecoat and clear at this point is likely to take your paint past 15mils thick. And generally speaking thats not good. Most paint companys...

I agree, that panel adhesive is the way to go here, you dont have to worry about warping the metal, any one can do it with little to no skill. and adhesive has the benefit of not damaging the primer on the inside of the skin, which welding would do, creating a spot that will rust easier. If you weld...

Ok, if you think you may be painting the car at all you better be sure that tire foam doesn't contain silicone. Most of those tire products do. It's a real pain to get that stuff off before painting, and if you dont get every bit of it off your paint will fish-eye and look crappy.

Looks like I posted before reading all the posts. Yeah if your looking at $500 in rust repair your better off getting a new hood. And Yes Carbon fiber can be painted think of it as just another kind of fiberglass. Most people dont paint it because they either like the look or want to show off the fa...

Media blasting would be safer than sand blasting, however, if the person knows what they are doing the amount of metal lost by sandblasting should be nothing of consequence. The thickness of the paint is likely to be between 5 and 15 mils. If the paint is on the low end of that thickness, you (or th...

I saw the power window switch, so I'm hoping you still have the power window actuator from the drivers side. Do you? actually the part I really need is the motor.

Thanks.

Some cadillacs have this for the trunk as well. My '89 Sedan Deville had it. Also made it so you dont have to slam the trunk closed. Just push it down a little and it would close itself. Supposedly this was for older people with less arm strength to be able to close the trunk easy.

Thanks guys, I'll have to look again. Sadly there doesn't seem to be any good salvage yards around here with MX-3 parts.

Dead Electronic Speedo On manual trans 92 GS

I cant seem to find the speed sensor anyone know where it is? I suspect the guage cluster itself is good, because occasionally it seems to start getting a signal and the needle hops about for a bit. Also I pulled the guage cluster out removed, checked and reconnected all the connectors. So I dont th...

So does this mean you have one for sale for $35 or your trying to get one for $35? Also is this the power window switches? If so and your selling I'll take it.

Did this meet ever happen is it still being planned? Things have been busy for me and I haven't been watching the board much, but it would be nice to meet some MX-3ers some weekend before winter.
