Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
my KL had the CPS sheared in half. It still ran, but sounded and drove like it was running on 5 cylinders. It'll still work without the sensor, but poorly. I did check that as well with the sensor unplugged, engine ran the same as with it plugged in. Replaced the sensor anyway because might as well...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
After taking a hiatus on it and cleaning up the garage a little, I got back into it, double checked all the wiring and put it where it should be for the ignition according to the diagrams. Previously I had just fixed the wiring and put it back to how it was originally. Apparently I should have been ...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
Haven't removed the heads yet. I believe our plan is going to be to remove the engine entirely, bring the heads to a machine shop to get port, polished, and gasket matched along with decked for flatness. Use MLS head gaskets and ARP bolts and put it all back together. I don't know what this kid was ...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
Haven't found the random stalling yet, it has appeared to have gotten a little worse. I can't do a cooling pressure test, because there are already external leaks, so the test won't show anything. I'll have to nab a combustion chamber gas test kit from O'Reilly's. The exhaust still has the sweet sme...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
Upon further inspection by doing a compression check on all the cylinders; all reading 175+. I'd say that's a healthy engine. No hissing or bubbling coming from the coolant caps, no hissing, or at least a very slight hissing (probably due to the tester seal) from the crankcase. I figure that because...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
Welp, crawled under to remove the switch. Noticed a funny looking color of an oil pan. That looks a little...dammit. Milky oil leak. Start engine and check exhaust. Yep, smells sweet. Well, that sucks. Time to pull head gaskets and change them both.

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
No problem, I'll definitely give it a go. Since we're on the subject, I usually use JimEllisMazdaParts as a source for OEM parts. Here is their part number for the Neutral Switch: 17-640A, and BWD's Neutral Switch: S41294 (Import Direct Ignition 18-2241). When looking on O'Reilly's website the BWD n...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
I'd look at the "Air" portion of this problem. Is the VAF properly connected... faulty wiring to the VAF and you'll just stop at idle as Zero Air flow measured results in zero fuel. That's next on the list. The wires seem in good condition, but given the state of the rest of the wiring, t...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
Alright, so I did disconnect the clutch switch, even though it wasn't working in the first place. Still no change. I believe I might have to remove most of the wiring and re-do it all. I'm also leaning towards the crank position sensor as well. These symptoms that we're experiencing can be caused by...

Re: [WTB] Idle Set Screw and Spring
Huh. Used to springs being on most of them. No big deal. Didn't take a look at the B6's stop screw. I'll give that a shot and see how it does. Given the length of the screw, I had figured that there would have been a spring around it, much like my Talon's. The washers are spacing it back so it doesn...

Re: [WTB] Idle Set Screw and Spring
Although the washers did pretty well, idle was too high. So, removed the larger washer which the throttle was getting stuck on, removed two more washers and used a key as an emergency spacer while I was out test driving it for another problem. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f225/CaffeineTripp/KL-...

Re: [WTB] Idle Set Screw and Spring
I cab pick up a screw for you at ace hardware Wednesday More so I would like the OEM. And mainly the spring itself. Hard finding one that's going to be that size. I've checked the local hardware store along with Menards. There is only one MX in the scrap yard up here, but I can't get there due to w...

[WTB] Idle Set Screw and Spring
Looking to purchase the Idle Set Screw and the Spring that keeps the throttle cable at a predetermined position on a KL Motor. This is the small screw, approximately M6 or M5 by 1.00 or 1.25. It is the screw which is parallel to the firewall, not the large screw which is perpendicular. Kind of a har...

Re: KL-ZE Swap Randomly Dying
Here's the hack job wiring, again. PO stated that he 'didn't have any problems with it running' when we first picked it up last year. Hasn't had any problems besides the high idle (vacuum hoses, TPS adjustments, and throttle adjustments, and a new throttle cable will be needed; K8 or B6? or KL from ...
