Mine was all one piece!! Its a pain in the a$$ to remove so if you dont have to then i would not suggest removing it. I had to because the preivous owner had cut the wire and connector right where it attaches to the back of the stereo.

Remove the bottom cover under the drives side dash. Then somehow cram yourself an a flash light under the dash!
