nah... every turbo car that i've seen running a MAF sensor had it placed before the turbocharger inlet, between the air filter and the turbocharger, so it reads the air being sucked into the turbo. Is it a manual or automatic? Either way it's either the starter it self messing up by not properly engaging the flywheel, or it's the teeth on the flywheel/flexplate that are messed up.
