I have a 96 with a 93 1.8 L K8 in it. The engine is flooding and dying randomly. It have been running like a top. I did the HEI Mod to it in December and reverted back to the original distributor. The spark I get is large but orange. No probelm turn over. Even when it runs, you can smell the fuel.

Turned into a simple fix on a poor ground cable at the battery. The custom shop put on nice shiny connector with a wing nut compressing a cut cable. This had to be replaced. Thanks for suggestions as trouble shooting sucks in -30 weather and when these cars get old, you never know where to start.

I have some iginton problems and solved them with a distributor change. Today, the car died in mid traffic. All attempts to restart have a crazy clicking happening in the center console, the fuel pump realy I assume. Anyone ever have this? Is this symptom of the pump being done, or the relay failing...

Mod was done exaclty as per the drawing for the 96 except the ground wire on the multilple wire connector was reconnected as it would not run without this. The car failed to start this morning. It floods and battery dies from cranking.

OK the auto shut off was related to my remote starter. This has been diasabled and the car runs from the first start until shut off. It needs about 4 hours of cool down to restart after shut off.
