Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff320/Redline322/Picture079.jpg That shows you where the sticker will be on a vaf, and what a U code vaf should look like. Your best bet is to find an Escort GT and rob the U code vaf from it or check clubprotege or feoa.com to see if 1 is for sale. A Mercury Trac...

Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
There's the different lettering codes for the vafs and then there's your error codes that flash through your check engine light. The correct vaf for the BP engine is the U code vaf which has a big U on the sticker, the S code vaf is for the sohc B6 or B8 engine and has a big S on the sticker. Basica...

Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
BP10 will work too, like it was said before it just has a trans ecu built in with it too, so you'll have 1 connector on the ecu not connected. With a U code vaf and a BP09 or BP10 ecu, it's just plug and play if you have an escort gt or protege gt harness. If you are using a B6 harness, make sure yo...

Plug it in, make sure there isnt any leaks in your intake piping, and try to set it up so that it sits relatively level.

Re: 95 B6 - "Fast Idle" Adjustable?
Your main idle will be controlled by your timing, advance your distributor a bit, the idle screw is just to fine tune your idle to where you would like it.

Re: bp swap, temp guage all the way up
Try to pinpoint the ticking sound, your injectors could be getting old, they sometimes start getting loud before they fail so it would be good to make sure. Get a small peice of fuel hose or something around the same size (preferably unused) and put it up to your ear and check different places along...

Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
They have the extra letters as a variance if they make more than 1 ecu for the motor in upcoming years. The easiest example is for the K8v6, which started off as the K801 ecu, then I believe went to K834 and so on.

Re: MX-3 BGB?
If the car is smoking for like 5 mins after starting, it sounds like valve seals. You can try some oil additives first and see if they'll soften up the seals enough to reduce it, but it's pretty common now that these engines are getting old.

Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
The only difference between a BP09 manual ecu and a BP10 auto ecu is the auto has an extra plug for the trans.

Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
There's a gear in the top of the vafs attached to the vane and when the vane moves, the wheel moves along contacts and send the signal to the engine. To make you car a little richer, you move the wheel so it stays open a touch more and to run leaner, you turn it the opposite. You have to remember th...

Re: Under Water
Well, first of all, the CEL codes you are getting are: 02-distributor, 05-knock sensor, 15 and 17 deal with the o2 sensor. You should take apart your intake, disconnect your fuel pump and crank the engine over for a bit to make sure all of the water is out of the cyls and exhaust. Then, you should d...

Re: Proper ECU/MAF Combo For BP Swapped Mx-3
The BP ecu is BP09 for manual, BP10 for auto and the proper vaf is a U code one. The B6 sohc starts with B6 and the vaf for that one and the B8 is an S code. You can use a B code vaf from an rx7 on the BP but you need to turn the wheel inside back a few notches or it will run pig rich but it is slig...

Re: question about b6 to bp swap
The main thing stronger from a B6 dohc is the rods and that's if it was a B6T to begin with. You will get more of a balance between hp and torque from the BP since it is a larger displacement. The stock BP block will handle over 200hp without changing any internals and for more power you'd look at B...

Re: Finally visited a dyno. Apparently running super rich. :(
I know on the 4 cyl mazdas when the cts isnt working, the ecu thinks the car is still warming up and richens the mixture. I'd imagine the same thing is happening here.
