The function is not always the same (normally open/closed), and the plugs are not the same between some. the VRIS are interchangeable though, and I think the EGR have a different plug.
You can grab the VRIS solenoids from any K series engine in a JY though. They're all the same.

SS braided brake lines, possible hoax.
Working with FSAE, I've learned something interesting. Cheap SS braided brake lines are just a normal rubber line with the SS braiding over top. The rubber hose carries all of the load, the SS just looks good. It isn't a performance upgrade at all, just a shiny gimmick. I don't think there is a conc...

Re: Timing mystery
....does your CEL flash, fan trick work, etc... something to let you know that your DIAG mode jumper is actually working? Maybe there is buildup in one of the pins in the diag box so its not actually working. If you are in DIAG mode, and rotating the disty does nothing..... I don't know how its poss...

Re: intake upgrade
Buy a generic intake kit for a car that has roughly the same intake configuration, I think some of the mid 90's acura integri are a popular choice for us. You may also need the vaf adapter plate (basically an ally sheet with the holes in it and a bit of 2.5" pipe welded to it) You can also post...

Re: black smoke mass airflow?
It kinda bothers me when someone comes in with a "my car does this, This is the problem" and when someone who has a suggestion (and is likely correct if they've been here awhile) is just ignored. Your VAF is not bad. Fix your intake, and try again. Due to this being an air volume meter sys...

Re: Robert Teal (v6 trout) Mazda mx - 3. First project ever
That price isn't unreasonable in MB. I wouldn't pay it now, but I paid 2000 about 5 years ago for an RS in similar condition. I also suffer from rust. I hate it past death. Your best bet is sourcing new or at least much better condition fenders. You won't be able to patch that with bondo, and formin...

Re: Stronger Tranmission
straight cut gears Fabricate your own sort of tie link to cradle the shafts together in the middle, there is no cradle in the middle, the drive shafts are only held at each end. Thats why a helical 3rd is bad, helical gears push the shafts apart. Shafts apart -> boom. There is a 'tranny saver' that ...

Re: change the water pump w/o timing belt removal?
Its possible, and I wouldn't worry about the coolant. The belt isn't made of silk, it can take some abuse. I'd prefer coolant over oil on it though.

Vacuum.
That is all. You're chasing dead ends looking at hardware.

Re: WhiteFinish's Log Gearbox PowderCoating p5
Depending on your cams, you may get a false lean at idle due to large overlap. A good bet is to get an EGT (Exhaust gas temperature) gauge, it helps back up your lambda readings.

If you rotate it quickly, does it change? if its not in DIAG mode, it will try to re-correct your adjustments.

I believe all of them are driver side, against the firewall. (the wall between the passenger and engine compartments)

Re: cooling fan motor
Sorry, I had no idea what level you're on with the car. Assume your TPS works (throttle position sensor). Find the DIAGNOSTIC box in the engine bay, little black box, says that on the lid. Inside, jump the pins TEN and GND with a little bit of wire or a paperclip. Turn the ignition to ON, no need to...

Re: Get your timing belt on correctly the first try
That is up to you. Spin the pullies by hand, if they sound dry at all, I personally would replace them, because I like a quiet, non bearing noise idle. If they feel a bit stiff, but quiet, that is normal, and it is probably pretty new. On the other hand, I've never heard of one failing. Like most be...
