This is almost guaranteed to be an intake leak problem.

Check the accordion tube between the airflow meter and throttle body. It often cracks between the ribs. Air leaking in here bypasses the airflow meter, which causes a bunch of running issues. All of these cars are sensitive to this problem.

I'm pretty sure what you're seeing as 'warpage' is just excess flux on the board. I'll wipe it down with grey... no, wait, rubbing alcohol, and I'll snap another photo.

You need to keep the VAF in the airflow, so make it fit with the adapter from the other thread.
