Re: [GI] Partout of Ryan's MX

There was a lot of interest in stuff. Unfortunately my other beater MX is having electrical ghosts that make it unreliable enough that I can't risk driving it anymore. That car was great though. Rusty, bad rattlecan job, doors hardly close, but KLDE swapped, haha. so I will likely switch out the sus...

Re: Ryan's Final Build

Here's what I replaced her with... http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk82/RyanThomsonRyan/IMG_1603.jpg Approximately the same peak power-weight ratio, but the BMW makes torque from 1500 RPM wheras the MX was only ballsy over 4k. The quality of the BMW cockpit is better, but my muscle memory is stil...

[GI] Partout of Ryan's MX

Its time for her to retire due to the front end being bent 2" to the left. This is still a gauging interest thread as I only plan to strip it down in 6 weeks or so. Parts of interest: Horizontal LED black projectors SS MX-3 door sills plastic interior chrome door handles and e-brake button shif...

Re: Looking for some suggestions

Just a heads up, I haven't solved it totally, but I do suspect it is the ignition switch wiring. The car has an immobilizer, alarm, and autostart. Huge rats nest under the dash was pulling on the big 4 pin connector. I push on the connector and the starter solenoid fires (But the battery is dead, th...

Re: Supercharging a K8?

This is cute.

Engine RPM x displacement = maximum volumetric flow. Not true in the tiniest bit. Do a bit of research on the term "Volumetric Efficiency"

What is your target power? This will give you a better idea of what kind of SC setup you need.

Looking for some suggestions

My winter beater has developed an odd issue over the past few months... Initially, it was the starter that was a bit wonky. Solenoid would fire but starter wouldn't turn, so I dismissed it as a bad contact in the solenoid. If you re-started it over and over eventually it would take. (clunk clunk clu...

Re: Ryan's Final Build

Well. I think I'll be leaving the MX game over the next year or so. Went out and got my summer MX running. Runs great, flooring it made me giggle, but the front end is unsalvagable. My winter chassis is cooked too. I'll be graduating this spring, and the line of work I'm going into means I can't dri...

Re: Brighter turn signal bulbs

I'm pretty sure you can buy plug n play LED bulbs that have the correct resistance built in. They're just decently expensive, like $5-15 ea.

Re: Eprom Tuning - Big Update

Good job reverse engineering it. This will give people a good, reliable base to start their MS tunes. I'm interested to see what the stock maps look like with actual ignition advance values, it should give us new information on the performance of various hardware combos based on what packages came f...

Re: Ryan's Final Build

Had a very scary lesson tonight. Summer tires.... should not be used in cold weather. I was ultra ultra lucky. Parking her for winter, do the repairs in spring... Nothing too major. Bend the rad support back (like always eh?) and a new crash bar. Even the paint is O.K. didn't break any glass either....

Honestly sounds like a VAF problem to me. Got a spare kicking around to try out?

Re: MagaSquirt n/a users

I can tell you without any doubt that if you have performed any significant modifications to your car WITHOUT engine management, you've definitely not been getting your bang for your buck. Management unlocks all the potential of the modifications you've performed. In lots of applications, cheap Eba...

Re: MagaSquirt n/a users

If you don't trust me, talk to a legit calibration engineer.

Your understanding of the process is vague at best and you're somehow finding confidence through limited understanding.
