Re: still burning too much gas...

think its possible my car is running ideal and its just the; 200ish lbs ive added with my stereo and rx8 seats, short city driving, 2.5" exhaust/intake and larger rims? short city driving and larger rims are a drag on your fuel economy - you gotta figure all the idling is 0 mpg or infinity lit...

Re: What spark plug to use?

Same engine, same spark plug for all years. NGK or Denso were original equipment - either will work. Platinum or Iridium if you don't like to change your spark plugs often. Spark plugs on the K engine are easy to change so you could use copper if you don't mind changing spark plugs every 30K miles (...

Re: about to change rear valve cover gaskets need help

Miata may be designed that way - not familiar with the BP engine, but it must have spark plug tubes that are threaded into the head with some kind of o-ring seal. That is not the design for the K series engine so just replace the valve cover gasket and it will seal the spark plug tube from the rest ...

Re: I thought all 1991-1995 Mazda 323s had manual steering?

Why get rid of power steering? Because the damn thing leaks after you take it out once. I'm goin to try to re-install it again but with some gasket maker. See if that helps Where would you use RTV? I have replaced the pump once because the bearings were bad, but it wasn't leaking. I know the thing ...

Re: I thought all 1991-1995 Mazda 323s had manual steering?

I've seen reference to 90 - 94 323 manual rack is the one we want. Not as cheap, but you could buy a rebuilt unit for $150. Also there is a detailed write up on how to depower an MX3 power rack to get similar results. Link

Re: [FS] Stock Mx3 GS parts car

Here is the diagram. I think you're talking about part labeled #4. I did this mod and didn't need that part. I'm certain the seat belt is secure. I'll have to look later, but think it is mounted to one of the 2 positions of the former lap belt reel. If I remember I'll take a pic and send it. http://...

Re: SS braided brake lines, possible hoax.

I believe the main contributor to any benefit from SS brake lines is not the SS wrapping but the inner teflon hose. The inner teflon hose is more rigid than rubber. The SS braiding and then the clear coating over the top is mostly protection from debris that would damage the inner hose. Personal exp...

Re: Air/Fuel ratio problems

Sorry - misunderstood reference to special tools. You'll rarely need the Mazda specific special tools that are mentioned and the manual usually shows you how to do the adjustment or check without the special tool. You'll see that with every car brand and you rarely need to invest in the special tool...

Re: Air/Fuel ratio problems

EGR is the same and will throw a code if there is a problem. Assuming you have a working V6 tachometer in your dash you could set the idle using the tach in your car. It won't be super accurate but between 500 and 1K rpm is good enough for idle speed. Setting the TPS and timing requires a digital mu...

Re: Air/Fuel ratio problems

Yes - follow the link and you'll get pictures and everything in the online manual. K8 or KLDE or KLZE the adjustments are the same. Idle adjustment is shown on the page 74 - just click on the first link and it will advance to the next page.

Re: Air/Fuel ratio problems

I think you've solved your high rpm issue. The V6 requires a V6 tachometer in the instrument cluster like you'll find in a GS cluster. Daninski is sending you on the right path to solving these last few issues. Sounds like you've got all new "tune up parts" but now you need to do the tune ...

Re: change the water pump w/o timing belt removal?

Haven't done the water pump without removing the timing belt, but it looks possible. No water pump bolts are covered by the tb or pulleys, but the engine mount bracket would definitely get in the way. So you will still have to remove and move all the accessories to get the timing covers off and I th...

Re: Timing mystery

Guess: Timing light not connected to #1 spark plug wire? Just not sure what else it could be. I'd almost guess that the timing light is connected to the coil wire since spark would remain constant regardless of position of the distributor, but not sure that you would see timing anything near spec - ...
