Re: Installing timing belt

Looks perfect - and not any different than before. If you turn the crank shaft 2x and cam pulleys line up with the marks on the back cover again then you're done.

Re: ALT / PS tensioner pulleys bearings noisey

I found references to 6203 bearing for power steering and alternator tensioner bearings. If you take the pulley out it should be possible to press the old ones out with hammer and socket. Be a little more careful putting new ones in. If you don't have a press you might use a vice and the old bearing...

Re: Bad idea?

Seafoam is combustible and is often mixed with gasoline to stabilize it. It won't hurt to soak your intake valves but it might be hard to start. Unless your car is running bad I wouldn't waste the time or money. No extra hp or love for having maybe cleaned the valve stems. If you do this you've got ...

Re: 92 MX-3 GS engine code questions

FYI same tensioner used on all KL engines so look at 93 - 97 Probe GT, 93+MX6 LS, 626 and Millenia w/ KLDE.

What exactly do you need for your water pump tensioner (whole bracket, adjusting screw, pulley)?

Too bad you're not local. I have a pair of excellent condition 92 cloth seats I'd give to you. They are tan / dark brown and don't look bad even in a black interior.

Re: 92 MX-3 GS engine code questions

Congrats on the successful repairs. Carburetor cleaner or throttle body cleaner should do a good job on the EGR. I've heard that soaking it overnight is good but never took the time.

Re: my compression test resutls / are they good?

The throttle position shouldn't matter. Compression takes place when the intake and exhaust valves are closed so nothing will change. Compression tests are always run with the throttle wide open to be sure enough air can enter the cylinder to be compressed. To the OP: Your test results are good. Do...

Re: 92 MX-3 GS engine code questions

EGR recirculates exhaust gas under certain conditions. Recirculating exhaust gas is done to reduce NOx emissions. Because exhaust gas is flowing through the EGR valve it can get clogged or stuck open or closed due to carbon buildup. Our EGRs are vacuum operated based on signal from the ECU. The ECU ...

Re: 92 MX-3 GS engine code questions

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum. You found a good forum for these somewhat rare cars. Check out the service manuals here . You've got codes from both O2 sensors (left and right). Left is code 15 and 17, right is code 23. Codes are specifically in the manual beginning here . Left s...

Re: have done a KLDE swap. need help

What year is your MX3? What distributor are you using? 1. Test the coolant temp sensor that controls the fan (usually black). Reference either E2-14 or F2-140 of the MX3 manuals for the resistance versus temperature tables. These are for the temp sensor that tells the ECU to switch on the radiator f...

Re: Installing timing belt

All I meant was that you don't have to install the tensioner completely before you manually turn the crank to check the belt. Usually you pull the tensioner completely off the engine and compress the piston and hold it compressed with a hardened nail or small drill bit. Then re-install the compresse...

Re: Installing timing belt

Just quick note on the youtube - totally normal - you are just turning the cam shaft so that it is compressing and continuing past some of the valve springs making it seem to jump.

Re: Installing timing belt

Temporarily put the crank pulley bolt back in and put a large ratchet on the crank pulley bolt and turn exactly 2x clockwise. Removing the spark plugs will make it much easier to turn, but I usually just slowly muscle the crank gear around with the sparks in. Use the mark on the crank gear and the e...

FWIW I vote going topless. I am and loving every minute. Get a magnet if you drop a bolt in the engine valley.

Re: Gas tank difficult to fill

Most valuable tool for removing stubborn screws: Impact driver - the kind you use with screwdriver bits and hit with a hammer. Check out a link here . It is a tool that I don't use too often, but when I do nothing else would work as well. To the op: you have a bad fuel gauge sender which can be repl...
