Re: Should I do a KLG4 Crank Swap?
Good information in this thread. Good luck with your build. You confirm an old thread that said same: klg4 crank (stamped klc7) is about 5 lbs lighter than the de or ze cranks. With lightened flywheel (and maybe for some lightened crank pulley) the differences should add up to a much more responsive...

Re: broken coolant filler neck. *FOUND ONE*
Without impact wrench the best trick is to use the starter. 1. Put socket and long extension on crank bolt 2. Arrange extension bar so it is resting on the ground or against lower control arm (suspension). Basically so it can't move when the starter tries to spin the crank pulley clockwise. 3. Disco...

You can't miss if you line up the crank and cam gears and mark the belt with a paint marker. If you forgot to mark the belt before removing it then read the sticky at the top of this forum about getting your timing belt on correctly. Last tip is to leave the top idler pulley off the motor when putti...

Re: broken coolant filler neck. *FOUND ONE*
Wow - you planning on a motor swap? That's alot of work for a water filler neck.
It might have been easier and cheaper to order just the filler neck from online discount mazda parts dealer:
- N3C115175 for the filler neck
- N32615174 for the o ring

Re: broken coolant filler neck. where to get new part???
The fix you're making sounds promising and I hope it works because otherwise a salvage yard is probably almost the only place for a replacement. At least you can branch out from MX3 because all K series engines will have the part you need. Look for Mazda MX6, 626, Millenia with the K series engine. ...

Re: Noisy Timing belt tension
^ I agree with marcdh - likely friction gear spring issue. Sounds just like HLA ticking but sharper metallic sound and does not go away - or if it is intermittent will come and go at various rpms. Re: Motor mounts, motor mounts, motor mounts
I'm using AWR mounts and vibration is not an issue. I daily drive my MX3 and would not be happy if it was too noisy, harsh or vibrating every stop light. These V6 engines are smooth enough at idle so vibration is not a problem even with solid mounts. I've filled the mounts on some 4 cylinder engines...

Re: Slave Clutch Cylinder
I agree further testing and inspection is needed, but I'm not buying the buggered release bearing theory. The release bearing is not that tight to the input shaft - it doesn't spin on the input shaft but rather on the fingers of the clutch pressure plate. It seems unlikely, but could one of the fing...

Re: Clutch bleeding
Hand vacuum pump works great and is a good tool to have. You can also consider a pressure bleeder like the ones made by motive power bleeder. In the US they sell sprayers for lawn and garden use - you would put weed killer or fertilizer in them and pump it up and spray the stuff on your garden. It i...

Re: Sleeper6's Gold 92GS back from the machine shop
Its a hand vacuum pump. Mityvac is a brand name but there are plenty of no names that will also work. When bleeding brake or clutch lines you connect it to the bleeder valve and create a vacuum by squeezing the handle. It then pulls hydraulic fluid through the clutch / brake line and removes the air...

Re: EGR Valve & O2 Sensor
Try running the car up to operating temp just before removing the O2 sensor. I'll sometimes put on an old winter coat and gloves to protect my arms and hands. Sounds silly and a little dangerous, but a hot manifold will make the sensor easier to remove. Just protect your arms and hands. Also since y...

Re: Update for 92 mx3 with KF-ZE She's ALIVE!!
If the FPR solenoid is not working then fuel pressure would be regulated by the FPR spring and diaphragm alone - no vacuum control. You would get maximum fuel at all times to the injectors and run rich. I would think the car will still run. This is equal to pulling the vacuum line off the FPR. To ch...

Re: KLZE burning oil with only 90000km
FWIW I'm a big fan of Mobil 0w30 synthetic. I change oil around 5K and have used it for the last 10K miles. One oil for all my cars that use 5w30 or 10w30. The KL in the MX3 is silent almost from the moment it is started. There is no way synthetic oil is ruining an engine. There is probably not much...
