ok it's messed up and it wouldn't get outta park, the button to press on the car to unlock it from park doesn't work because the gear is messed up, and the gear shift column is what they told me, and also the brake lights and the car turns on, and everything, but it just wouldn't get out of park. an...

uh my gears doesn't shift outta park, and the mechanic says I need to replace the whole gear shift column thing, anyone have any idea?
