You can tell that this knocking noise goes in correlation with the rotation of the axle, because when I am going 2 km/h down the road you can hear it grinding very slowly (usually knocking doesn't start coming in harder until I get more speed) but you can hear how slow the grinding is when the car ...

That's what I've been hearing... would that tensioner knocking increase in knocking when the car itself speeds up or the engine?

And I just replaced one of the CJ joints, however even if it was it would occur most while going around a corner wouldn't it? Thats what I experienced when it went, and from memory it would drive in a straight line without making too much noise, this problem is different.

We turned it over the other day to run the compression numbers. It SEEMED to turn over quick enough, I mean, for those numbers it would have to be turning over very slowly, would it not?

Well thats what I meant, the timing belt was all aligned to the right spot, it hadn't skipped any teeth at all, so yeah, low compression but everything is right where it should be.

Well I had it running for about a minute 3ish weeks ago or so, but no, I didnt drain the fuel. Were gonna run a compression test first, among probably many other things. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks for the comments, wanna get my baby back on the road =/
