Re: Really Confussed now....
You figured this out yet? I am having the same problem. My fans come on and stay on. The guy who did my chip even routed a couple wires and hooked it all up so I have three sensors. They still come on though. They did not do this on the K8 ECU. To make my problem clear: My K8 had only two sensors (o...

Re: I GOT IT
Yeah best done with the help of another person. I just held it with a socket and my dad took the flywheel off the K8. Was pretty easy actually. We thought it would be really hard to undo the bolts. Gotta use the right tools though.

My 95 is OBDIJuans_93_MX3 wrote:What if the ECU is a 94?
Arent 95 ECUs OBD II? Is there such thing as a OBD II ECU?
Would a 95 ECU even hook up to the 93 wiring harness?
95 ECU would hook up fine as long as it's the same OBD. OBDII ECU will have 4 slots on the back instead of 3.

You can always put a ZE engine in if all else fails ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: KLZE TIME...
I don't trust mechanics. 90% chance that there will be a couple issues afterwords. I know a guy who got a ZE put in his probe. I asked him if it felt more powerful, he didn't even need to open his mouth for me to know that the DE was probably only 10% less powerful at worst and that the mechanic pro...

Re: I GOT IT
I was not too impressed and still am not. But I don't have the correct ECU yet (which i heard makes the biggest difference to the car). The car pulls harder down low compared with the K8, I have not revved past 3000 yet. Don't rape the engine until you run it for a few hundred miles and put some goo...

Re: K8 ECU on KLZE engine cause car to sputter?
I dunno what power a K8 ECU and VAF would make on a KLZE engine but it must be sh*t. My ZE runs quite rich with the K8 ECU and VAF. It literally stinks of fumes. Blows some smoke but not black smoke. Dunno wtf people are talking about with black smoke, don't running rich causes that.... I'm getting ...

Re: What engine did i just buy/KLZE build thread
Nah I think you should try hooking it up properly so it works, if you have emissions tests. I don't have any tests at all where I live. I accidentally hooked mine up but then just routed all the coolant/vacuum hoses lines into itself so it doesn't really do anything. I don't know where they all go o...

Re: What engine did i just buy/KLZE build thread
I got a bit confused with the EGR and vacuum also. Basically, if you need to pass emissions, hook up the EGR. I didn't because I don't have any emissions tests (but I still installed the EGR, just routed the pipes to itself so it's not really doing anything). Honestly, there's a couple of coolant pi...

Re: Just finished my ZE swap - but not much power
Found the metal noise. Part of the metal shielding on the strut assembly was rubbing. No noise now. Got wheel alignment. Now just need an ECU. I got a local guy who can chip ECU's. Am going to get mine done for only about $60. Pretty good value considering how much they want for standard ECUs. I get...

Re: [WTB] KL31 or KL36 ECU
Well I got in contact with a guy from Australia who can chip my K8 ECU and basically make it into a KL31/36 or better with custom tuning etc.
I would offer you $100 plus postage if I can't get the custom chip.

So what's the story, did it actually stop working and this mechanic told you this?
If you did change the timing belts, did you do the hydraulic tensioner?

Re: K8 to KLZE/DE swap
Hey outlaw hows the swap going? you get that car yet? I have a good condition MX-6 with a KLDE motor. It runs very nice and is powerful, there's no reason not to put one into an MX3. I think rebuilding one and then putting a turbo on or maybe just headers would be very nice. Btw, in regards to the Z...

[WTB] KL31 or KL36 ECU
Anyone from Australia got one and willing to sell?
Or if you live somewhere else and have one - how much and what price for postage?
Thank you

Re: hesitates while accelerating
I'd still personally be checking the TPS. I never trust mazda dealers, they don't know much considering mazda created this car. Replace that crappy air filter and intake hose with new stuff or a good condition genuine mazda one. Eliminate one problem at a time. Make sure the distributor timing is ri...
