Re: gasket kit off ebay
the valve cover gaskets seem crap... 3 guys bought the kit and have not a problem with them. Is it just me or does that make no sense? They seem crap but three guys have them and had no problems??? I would use Mazda genuine for the head gasket since it's hard to access without taking the engine out...

Re: 94 MX3 K8
No one going to question him about his? Ripping down the old engine to change rings may prove just as much work, if not more than an engine swap. Swapping the engine to a 2.5L has been done by plenty of people and makes the car faster and easier to drive. If you have not considered that, give it a t...

Re: Internal engine interchange.
Too much difference. Bore and stroke are different. I'm sure there's a load of other internal differences too.
I suggest selling the K8 engine for whatever you can, or rebuilding it for fun...

Re: Ze won't start
This most likely won't help but I couldn't get mine to start at first. It was the PCV vacuum hose from the rear head, that connects to the front head. There's a pipe coming from there and if it's just wide open and not either blocked or routed correctly to the intake pipe, the car will never start p...

Removing side skirts
How? I tried today, I can see all the screws. I'm looking at one of the side skirts next to the back wheel. There's three screws on the bottom and then there's two on the side, which the back wheel almost blocks. Those two near the wheel are a b---- and even though I am unscrewing, they won't come o...

Re: fowljesse's GS/ZE/DE/SE ; )
Got some junk done! I finished the "Ferrari" tails. They look pretty cool (better than the pic), and work great. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd16/fowljesse/RamAir003.jpg Hey are those just modified altezzas or something different? They look better! Maybe it's because you matched th...

Re: Just finished my ZE swap - but not much power
I see, thanks I will check that out. I just purchased a bunch of stuff off rockauto.com. Got myself a disty cap and rotor as mine are corroded. Am going to get a proper timing light and set it to 10 degrees with the new disty cap and rotor. I think it's out at the moment, which could lead to it bein...

Re: Just finished my ZE swap - but not much power
Daninksi sorry for being n00b, if I wasn't n00b I would of figured this out lol. I notice when letting the clutch out slowly the engine will sort of feel unstable like it might stall. It doesn't just go without adding a little tiny bit of throttle, once going it's ok though. My MX6 just goes, you le...

Re: Just finished my ZE swap - but not much power
Throttle cable is good. I got my sister to press the pedal down fully and the butterfly opens all the way nicely. I don't have a cat but would that actually make it smoke white? It didn't do that in with the K8 (from what I remember). I saw a nice cloud of smoke today when I took a corner near my ho...

Re: Cylinder deactivation with MegaSquirt?
You gotta think of it in a simple way. The car uses most fuel when taking off. Once cruising, it uses hardly any fuel (3-7L/100 kms depending on uphill or downhill etc). Deactivating cylinders whilst cruising is silly if you think about it. The car will use more petrol uphill because it has less pow...

Hows the engine going if you don't mind me asking? Does it make good power?

@ Fowljesse, you ask your dad yet about this theory? If he has built heaps of engines without issues in the past, I would trust his opinion.

Cool. Glad to hear you like it. My ZE is not running so well... not super powerful like everyone elses.
