Re: Clutch slave piston not lining up straight with trans fo
The actual slave itself is straight when not on the car. I don't know why, but the old one was the same too. Perhaps my clutch fork sticks out too much? It's like I need spacers behind the slave bolts to hold it out further and make it straight. I'm going to run for a while like this and hopefully i...

Re: KLZE? Or What?
Don't even touch the head gaskets then, they're almost always ok (unless you've already taken the heads off). Check oil for coolant and if it's just plain old black oil then I doubt the head gaskets are bad.

Re: KLZE? Or What?
Well, if you're taking the engine apart you might as well get piston rings and bearings for the bottom end. I put a ZE in my car and ended up needing to rebuild it anyways so do it once and do it right or do nothing and see how it goes but definitely don't go halfway IMO! Things I think you can re-u...

Re: KLZE? Or What?
Looks fairly golden there, should be good for many miles IMO! Water pump and fuel filter get whatever. Honestly, I run without a timing belt cover just to make stuff like that easy. Rockauto.com are a good site to get parts for good prices. Valve cover gaskets, Mazda for sure. I just sprayed a bit o...

Re: KLZE? Or What?
190HP is somewhat of an overstatement... There's no way 10:1 pistons opposed to 9.2:1 would make 20HP. And that would be the only real difference between the curve neck engines physically. The JDM versions have a knife edged intake manifold too (where it meets the throttle body). I'd look for EGR. N...

Re: Idle Drop
You can cut the valve out and use it on your new hose, that's what I did.
As for idle, I'm sure with the new IM there has to be a leak or something uncapped. Did you replace all silicone hoses, check the vacuum chambers weren't cracked etc?

sleeper6, ok have to agree and disagree. yes on your de reccommendation.
No on a rebuild requiring italian precision or whatever lol. I rebuilt in my shed with mostly ebay parts. done about 33,000ks on it no probs. I dont trust any shops these days. They're mostly monkeys with air tools.

Re: After market fpr stock k8
20mpg is a little bad. I'm running a consistent 25mpg in the city at the moment and that includes the irresistible urge to let those rpms fly  You'll know for sure once the wideband is in. Low rpm+throttle it will/should always aim for 14.7 - so as long as you are not flogging it hard and doing...

Re: After market fpr stock k8
I wish to learn the wizards magic behind ecu's. I may be good at parts swapping and engineering, but I don't really know where to start in the world of engine control/management. I have a kl36 on the way and would like to know if I need anything else? I know I use my je50 from the k8. Even though I...

Re: After market fpr stock k8
What wideband you planning to run? I just bought and installed an Innovate MTX-L. It was extremely easy to setup. Get an exhaust shop to weld you a bung (mine came with one) and the rest should be simple (hopefully). I found the KL31 map runs very stoich at low throttle and idle. Between 14.5 and 15...

Re: Maybe an MX3 guy has been in this situation.....
Well you probably didn't need to do all that tps stuff if it was running fine before the MAF. What I think is going on - The MAF setup from the probetalk guy is for a KL02 VAF. So if you used the little harness also that he supplies for the VAF to MAF sensor, you'd have the wrong wiring since you ha...

Re: Milennia motor
In my experience the difference between curve neck and straight neck ZE manifolds were minimal. Also, I'd like to point out and question anyone who says they felt differences: Did you change chips/flash your ecu to get the correct VRIS points? The KL31 VRIS and Curve neck VRIS are not wildly differe...

Re: How To Find A Good KLDE
You're quite the active new member eh :welder: Well: 1 It's just the wiring looms and ECU's that matter mostly. If you have a 92/3 car, get a 92/3 ECU. The VAF for all KLDE are the KL02 so that doesn't matter. Don't over think it too much though, chips can be made to suit the loom+engine etc. 2. You...

Re: After market fpr stock k8
A guy from my club makes these's, its no Xtreme things, Snailmain or stoker100. It's called the Fullsize chip. No details, no pics ( i know it sucks). And I know balls about chipping myself. He also mentioned the extreme timing on the probinator. Only have the chip, I can only dyno myself for real ...
