Re: funky idle, anyone know?
The reason I say Mazda got sold to ford is becouse the stock ownership of each company has not been even. Ford owns around 45% of Mazda corp. while Mazda doesn't own anything near that of Ford. The two companys have been working together since the 1980's maybe even earlier but when a large company s...

Re: funky idle, anyone know?
So I'm back, checked out the throttle body deal and idle speed control valve story. Heres what I found. Under the throttle body is a valve that is spose to open to control the idle when the throttle body is closed. This valve is also controled by water temp. Okay big deal, Maybe the thing is clogged...

Re: funky idle, anyone know?
Sounds like my problem except mines dies. I'll be coming off the highway and the car just dies. The idle used to flutter big time but now the engine flames out. 70mph without powersteering and power brakes sucks. Does your idle flutter when you hit the brakes? I've got to fix this on wendsday. So I'...

Re: swapin heads??
Okay after checking out the computer and wiring diagrams....nothing will fit. Mazda seems to have made the computers completely different. The engine will bolt in, but the computer/wiring is different. The reason I wanted to swap engines was becouse there are more parts avaliable for the DOHC then t...

Re: swapin heads??
Yea thanks for finding that engine. Right in my backyard also. At school tomorrow I'm going to print out some pages from the on-line manual and compair them to my chilton manual. This should be pretty damn close from what I can tell. Does anyone know the figures for this engine. I'm guessing around ...

Re: swapin heads??
Step ahead of you. Went to the Mazda dealer in town and the DOHC and SOHC have different head gaskets. Although he won't pull them to check to see if the oil/water hole match up sooo, I still wonder. Anyway I found an DOHC in my town for only $350 with only 16k miles on the clock. Engine swap time I...

Re: Fight back against stuffy old men
Hey you need to take this ticket to court. If you don't your insurance will go up for like the next 7 years! Lawyers are cheap if you find the right one, plus it's going to be your word against his. But let him do the talking in court he'll prolly get all mad and raise his voice and s---. Plus I liv...

Re: swapin heads??
I was thinking about this to. Sohc to a DOHC.
Just need the right donor car. I'm thinking everything should fit, plus I think gude makes cams for the DOHC, so that with some polish and porting would bring it to at least 110hp with out any other mods. Can anyone shed some light? PLEASE
-Oliver

Re: Superchip?
Superships makes a item called the ICON. I bought one for $200. I think I got a great deal since I could feel the power. I do a trap speed test(from road sign to sign) normally I hit 55mph I'm up to 58mph now. If you can get one used go for it, but the new price is over $400 and I woudn't pay it. <P...

Re: Which exhaust??
I don't think there are any changes to the exhaust systems from 1992 to 1995. I could be wrong but my manual doesn't say anything. Also if you don't trust stylin compacts you can order it from www.corksport.com although the price is high...
