Re: Tips and tricks on fuel filter replacement.
fyi if you twist the rubber hose with a pair of pliers rotating it then it will free up for you if its stuck, and if its really on there hot oil will soften it up for you. I also pinched off the fuel line once I bled the pressure off to prevent excess fuel spill.

yeah you gotta love those resistors stuck in a plastic box, these gimmicks make me laugh just like those plugs that add 40 hp.

Re: Trouble switching gears
Do the simple stuff first, bleed the clutch line out with all new fluid in if it looks like its brownish or dark in colour. Next check the fluid levels in the trans, check the online manuals for that part. Once you have checked both of those then you can move onto other things. Remember that when do...

Re: KL Miata...
http://majica.net/JNR/major.htm this guy has solved the trans issue why not take a look at his build to model yours off of. People can cram a 5L in there with the 5L rwd trans so I am sure you can get the kl in there.

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
there are a few of those here in saskathewan as well, its an interesting use for natural gas, I believe the big reason for the difference in fuel costs between argentina and the us/canada is taxes on the fuel, I may be incorrect about that but I think that was the main reason for the difference.

Re: Scrolling line on screen.
there are puresine wave inverters on the market, just make sure that you get a sufficient wattage, I would go to 500+ watts for a ps3, a 1000 watt to be safe, also make sure the wiring is of the proper gauge to run it, no less than 4 gauge.

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
The cost of the controller has been one of biggest costs stopping a lot of people, now mind you it does beat buying a new car if you have a shell to start with, I do remember coming across an article on an electric miata a few years ago, it was pretty neat to see the swap he went through. Here we ar...

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
@ inodo; The specs listed in the review link you posted is based off their old battery system (2008),the new system (EEstor) they use is much more effiecent. One way to get past the problem of charging is to simply have battery swap/charge stations where you simply change a battery cell instead of c...

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
You are entitled to your opinion and you have some valid and invalid points, I am not saying that they are for everyone however many have made a conversion a very viable and cost effective swap. There are more and more people doing it all the time, the ice engine is far from perfect running at a pis...

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
lol it depends on goals, and there is the technology out there that addresses the issues that come with traditional lead acid deep cycle batteries, where you fail to come on par with this arguement is that deep cycle battery technology has come a long way from the huge electric forklift batteries, t...

Re: Flywheel resurfacing
check it for true flatness by using a straight edge and a feeler gauge, if you are only a few thousandths out then it should be good, you can skip the shaving down of it, mind you if it were me and you have gone through all the work to remove the trans and what not I would do it anyhow for peace of ...

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
13k is a lot of coin unless you are saving up for it, although considering fuel savings that would be a pretty good investment. either way it has the potential to be a torque monster, have you ever seen the electric drag cars? They are sick the amount of torque and power they lay down.

Re: Electric MX3 Conversion
this is wicked cool I have been considering doing this as well as a project, sourcing the electric motor locally would probably be hard unless I went to calgary for it. Getting an electric forklift for parts would be cool but they do not have any scrap yards here for them. Electric motors are really...
